  • Welcome to my blog!

Thanks for stopping by the new blog. As a photographer, I love being able to capture so many precious moments in so many people's lives...moments that they will look back on for years. I agree that anyone can take a picture, but it takes true talent to capture a feeling. Here you will be able to see all my newest work, learn more about me, see my family, and learn what makes me tick! I love getting feeback, so leave a comment, like a post, and become a fan!!!

One Every Seven Photography Challenge: Week 3

So I was a little late on week 2′s theme, which was circle. Here was my submission. I found this piece of art outside of the conference center in New Orleans. I had so many ideas for a circle theme, but I swear every idea I came across, someone posted something on the page that was the exact same. Not that I don’t mind having the same idea, but considering I wanted to push myself, I decided to try to find another idea. Are these not really cool?

And week three was New. But this time no people and no animals. I love being motivated to think outside the box. I can’t begin to tell you how it makes me look around my house and surroundings for things that I wouldn’t normally think of, especially to photograph. Here’s my new submission. This is my daughter’s ‘new’ mask I brought her home from New Orleans – (pictures from that trip to come very soon.)

Payton – 6 months

This is the 3rd time I have gotten to photograph Miss Payton. She is one of my baby steps clients so I will get to see her at least 2 more times. She is such a sweetie. This session we went for the simple look, and made it all about little Payton. Seriously, some of the cutest smiles ever. I love her scrunchy nose face that she makes when she smiles really big. Obviously, her parents are Cubs fans (and although we are Cardinal fans over here,) I have to admit she looks pretty darn cute in that Cubs jersey.:)Can’t wait for our next session little one!

This is my absolute favorite of the session! So adorable.

Sawyer – Newborn

Many of you who read my blog or follow me on facebook know that I absolutely love babies, everything about them. So I have been working extra hard to perfect my ability to photograph these sweet babies. I’m still learning and trying to find that “perfect” way, but I’m getting closer. Expect to see a bunch more cuties gracing my blog soon, as I plan on photographing a bunch more starting in February. Now, little Sawyer was an absolute dream to work with. He slept almost the entire time, only waking up at the end where I was able to capture a few photos with his eyes open. Perfection! His little features are just so sweet. I’m so thankful that his mommy and daddy allowed me to capture his first days. (He was due on Christmas day but came a few weeks early, but we had to include a santa hat to mark this Christmas baby!)

One every seven photography Challenge

I’m sure many of you have often heard of 365 day challenge. It’s where you take a picture every single day of the year. Pretty cool! It takes a lot of work and devotion to make sure you do that. I wanted to do something like this, but being honest with myself, I knew that I would not be able to accomplish the 365 day challenge. So when another awesome photographer (Jessica Limeberry with Lemongrass Photography) mentioned that she wanted to do a One Every Seven Photography Challenge, I was totally game. I plan on sharing our themes and my photo of the week here. It’s nice for me to be able to step out of “work mode” sometimes and take on a project of my own. Some of these might be silly, fun. Some might be taken with my phone or my point and shoot camera. It’s a way for me to think outside of the box.

1:52 – Happiness

Happiness is my two children and cherishing the everyday moments.

Okay – so my total intention was to capture the two of them laughing together in the bathtub because who can resist not smiling at two adorable children laughing. But it never quite goes how you planned. Truth be told, this makes me smile more, because this is the real them. They laughed and played together – I have it on camera – but when I came to this image, I could not stop laughing. So it won my choice to be entered.

I’m super excited to see where this journey will take us and what photos I can capture and share.

2011 Favorites – Weddings

So this year, I went through all of the weddings I photographed this year and picked out my favorite photo (either of the bride and groom or the bridal party.) With 23 weddings, I planned on 23 photos, but there were a few I couldn’t leave out, so I leave you with my top 27 photos of 2011. I can not express my gratitude for being allowed to be a part of and capture the special days for all these awesome people!
